Somebody told me once that there are as many hummus recipes as many people. This recipe comes from a dear friend of mine who works as a trainer in an intercultural environment, and from a direct contact with the Syrian cuisine.
Syrian Hummus

- a tin of chickpea
- 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt
- the juice of half a lemon
- a pinch of salt
- a tablespoon of tahini (sesame paste)
- a tablespoon of grinded coriander
- 1 teaspoon of sumac
- 1 or 2 pressed garlic cloves
- half a teaspoon of grinded chili
- a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
- a spoonful of hemp seeds for decoration
Instructions
Add all the ingredients below in a food processor or tall container where you will use the hand blender: the chickpea content of a tin/ jar with a plain yogurt, the juice of half a lemon, a pinch of salt, a tablespoon of tahini (sesame paste), a tablespoon of grinded coriander, 1 teaspoon of sumac, 1 or 2 pressed garlic cloves, half a teaspoon of grinded chili and a bit of extra virgin olive oil
Mix everything till the content becomes a paste with a beautiful texture
Save few chickpeas for decoration and sprinkle on top a spoonful of protein-rich hemp seeds
